Book Recommendation丨Dutch Towns As Seen Through Planner’s Eyes 

What are the characteristics of feature towns? What is the charm of feature towns? How to create the feature towns? All these are the challenges faced by the government, investors, designers and operators in the coming years. When opening the map of Europe, you will be exposed to the beautiful natural scenery, long history, featured industries and charming tourism. There are hundreds of thousands of towns like this only in the Netherlands. If we observe these towns with developing mind, interpret them with historic lens, appreciate them from artistic angle and analyze them in the urban planning manner, you will obtain a lot of inspiration and enlightenment. In this context, ERTS would like to promote the book Dutch Towns As Seen Through Planner’s Eyes. At the beginning of this book, it briefly introduces Dutch towns in the Gold Century and its subsequent extension, as well as the industrialization in the 20th century. The book also outlined the challenge that Dutch towns will face in the 21st century and analyzed five different types of15 Dutch towns. The description of Dutch towns in this book includes aspects such as the historical evolution, landscape features and emotional feeling, which not only demonstrates the appearance and temperament of each town, but also provides the reference for the feature town design and construction. This book can also be used as the handbook for visiting and touring in Holland.
